We recently got back to Slovakia. We had the opportunity to go home for Christmas which was great.
However, we both got the fly while we were there. We had a very, very long trip home and when we got back to Michigan the weather was ice cold. We managed to stay healthy and enjoy ourselves for Christmas but after that the flu bug got ahold of us and I will spare any readers the details that come with having the flu. All in all we went home to celebrate Christmas, see our family and friends and get rested for the remainder of the basketball season; that didn't go according to plan.
I lost a lot of weight while I was home because of the flu and instead of being more rested when I arrived I was more tired. My team had a game two days later and I was hoping to help them out the best I could even though I wasn't going to have my usual energy.
We played one of the best teams in league, Nitra. They are actually tied for first place. We felt confident going into the game and thought if we played well the entire game we would win. Well, we played fairly well for three quarters. The third quarter we struggled and no matter what we did in the fourth we couldn't seem to get back into it. We ended up losing 96-82. The game was closer than this however free throws in the fourth quarter made it a fourteen point loss.
I personally didn't know how I would perform. I wasn't feeling 100% and that usually means I will play terrible or play pretty well. In this case it was well. I had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a career high 6 steals. All of these statistics were above my average so hopefully I can continue to play well and help the team go on a winning streak soon. Our point guard Martin who was previously injured is now back and with him at the point I am sure that we can get a winning streak going. Our next game will be a difficult one against my old friend Greg Immink and Prievidza who are tied for first place. I know if we play well we can win and although our team has struggled I know when healthy and playing smart anything can happen with our team.
Until Next Time
