Rough week at the office

This past week we had two games. The first game was home and the second game was away. I'll spare you the anxiety and let you know we lost them both. In some ways both games were very similar in other ways they were very different.

The biggest similarity between these games and all the games that we have had is that we start out the first half terribly. We were down by 21 at the half going against Handlova and down a whopping 31 going into the half against Kosice. It was embarrassing to say the least.

In the Handlova game we fought back and some how managed to lose in overtime. We had our chances to win the game, however, I can't say we really deserved to win since we were down by more than 20 points after 20 minutes of play.

In the Kosice game we also fought back. We took the lead from down 31 to down in the low twenties after the first ten minutes of the second half. Then I fouled out in the beginning of the fourth and we didn't come back any more.

This whole thing really is a learning experience for me and the rest of our team. A learning experience I would have hoped to never experience. As a basketball team we have to figure out what we can do to have a good start in the first half. We always seem to relax and play loose in the second half but the first half is always ugly since we have had these changes to our team. I personally am going to have to be more aggressive with the basketball in the first half and whatever happens, happens. I need to stay out of foul trouble as well.

Meanwhile the playoffs are going on in Slovakia. I have two friends from Michigan playing here. I know the chances of that are crazy. Greg Immink's team has already advanced to the semifinals, despite him being injured. It shows how deep his team is when they are playing well. I think they can win the entire thing if tehy play the way they did in the regular season. My other friend, Zach Ingles whose team beat us out for the final playoff spot, won their first series game against the number one seed but has lost the last two. It is best out of five. Hopefully they can keep the upset rolling.

The funny thing is that even though he made the playoffs if he loses in the first round he will be heading home before I will. Like I mentioned before there are four teams who didn't make the playoffs and are playing each other again twice each. Two teams are tied for the worst record in the league so every game is very important for them to try to win. Handlova and my team are nto in danger of being moved out of the league so we just want to try to play the best that we can while getting the inexperienced players experience.

We have three more games left and hopefully we can win them.
Take Care
