This game was about payback. We played Hannover our last game before Christmas break and got crushed. It was our worst game of the season. In fact it may have been that loss that turned our season around. We came back from Christmas break with a new focus and better work ethic. The improvements are undeniable as we have the best record in the league after the break. It does matter what the score is or who is in the game we continue to work hard and play together.
We were very excited to dominate Hannover much like the did against us back in December. Our plan worked to perfection because at halftime the game was in hand and it was about us going out there and continuing to do what we do.
The game started out poorly as we were stricken with fouls and without our backup German center Maik Zirbes it appeared we might have some trouble. However, once we stopped getting called for so many crazy fouls we really started to assert ourselves. Truly everyone on the team played well this game in one aspect or another. It was truly a team victory.
Whit Faye came out as focused as I had seen him and connected on 7 of 13 shots from the field and wound up with 21 points. Marcus Smallwood was unstoppable connecting on an astounding 9-11 shots and had 14 rebounds as well. I played well hitting 5-8 from the field and Theo Tarver gave us a lot of energy as well as Carl Mbassa and Rob Cardenas. All in all we controlled the game and it was a great win for a team that is playing very well.
Right now we are in third place. One game behind Cuxhaven. We must win our last two games of the season and if Cuxhaven loses one of those games we will move up to second place and the Braves will advance to the first division next year. It is a very exciting time for the team, especially when there is no system of playoffs for the league.
Until Next time :)
