Big Win!

Yesterday we had a mid week game playing Kircheim.
Both teams had the same record at 8-6 and the winner of the game would be tied for 4th place in the league. We knew it was going to be a very difficult game and we had to play focused for the entire forty minutes.

We had a strong start in the first quarter. Marcus Smallwood had a few really nice dunks to get the crowd going. We finished the 1st quarter up 25-18.
The second quarter proved to be pretty even as Kircheim outscored us by one point although we had a lot of foul trouble with our big men.

At the half we felt pretty confident and knew if we played our game we would win the game.
The third quarter proved to be pretty similar to the 2nd.
Going into the fourth quarter Kircheim hit some outside shots and the game was 64-61 with just 8 minutes to go in the game.
This is when we went on a 16-0 run to put the game away. Mirko Damjonovic hit a couple threes, Walt Baxley continued hit scoring and the game was soon out of reach with our timely shots and great defensive focus.

The final score. 92-72.

We had four players score in double figures with Baxley contributing a game high 29 points followed by Marcus Smallwood, (17) Maik Zirbes (12), and Mirko Damjonovic (11)

Marcus also had ten rebounds and Whit Faye had 13 assists.

I played pretty well, nothing special statistically, but I thought I played aggressive defense and for the most part made the right plas on offense.

We are currently in a tie for 4th place and our next game is just 4 days away.
We look forward to having another game so soon and continuing to roll into the second half of the season.
